Turning a Dying Elm Tree into a Work of Historical Art
The Town of Truro, in conjunction with its Tree Committee, has done a marvelous job of saving our magnificent elm trees from the dreaded Dutch Elm disease. However, occaisionally one succumbs and must be removed. In the past the result was firewood, at best. But with the new Tree Sculptures project, the result is an opportunity to showcase some of Truro's illustrious heritage. To date over 30 sculptures have been completed and they make an excellent contribution as a tourist attraction and bring a unique level of awareness to our area.
